I have been a Massage Envy Member for many years now and this is the first bad experience I have had. I rated my experience with the front desk associate as 5 since there is no option to put "n/a." I was made aware via text message that the front desk associate called out and that therapists would grab their clients from the waiting area in the front, near check-in. With respect to my service provider, I rated her a "0-Poor" due to the following: (1) Prior to changing and getting onto the massage table, my service provider asked what pressure I preferred. She verbalized to me that she was able to provide light to light-medium with respect to pressure; I responded that this was perfect. I would describe the pressure used by this service provider during my session as nonexistent. It was choppy, lacked fluidity and was awkward. After giving it a few minutes, I asked the service provider if she could do a traditional Swedish massage because I was hoping to guide her to provide light, fluid strokes. She was unable to take the direction and my impression of her is that she lacks technique and skill. (2) When I spoke to areas of focus, I mentioned I would like to remain on my stomach and have my back, shoulders and neck worked on, plus legs. She never worked on my neck and hardly worked on my shoulders. (3) The room itself was hot and I asked her to turn off the table warmer, which she immediately did. However, there was a small space heater in the corner of the room set at 89 degrees and I found myself dripping sweat from my face. I had to ask for the space heater to be turned off. (4) The room itself did not have the traditional soothing music or white noise playing. I had to listen to pop-like music with upbeat energy and singing when trying to relax. I wanted to walk out of the service within the first 15 minutes of the massage, but I was worried about hurting her feelings and also kept hoping things would get better. In the end, I should have given the direct feedback re: my concerns. I am beyond frustrated that I paid for this service with available credits. I did not tip and this is the first time I have never tipped for any form of service (hair, nails, eyebrows, etc.)- I struggled with this as well, but I feel strongly she did not perform a service worth tipping.
