Tony was the massage therapist: Although he is a very good massage therapist, he has a horrible attitude. Upon arrival to the room he called me back by name but never mentioned his name. I knew it was Tony because I scheduled it but it was not a warm greeting. I also had another appointment with him scheduled weeks prior but he canceled due to family emergencies. I waited. Couple months to be able to see him at the west village and he supposedly is the best massage therapist there. He takes me to the massage room and ask what the focus is today. I said full body. He said so you don’t want deep tissue? I said yes I do but I want all areas addressed. It’s a 90 minute massage and when I have a therapist new to me, I like to see how they address as many areas as possible. His answer was well that’s not a deep tissue massage then and it was very defensive. You could tell he was bothered with me as he placed himself on his self built pedestal. You have to give me your problem areas so that can be the focus. So I went on to say that my back and right hip and leg are always a problem but I still want deep tissue and full body as time permits. Again he coldly let me know that this is not deep tissue then and my response was fine, give me firm to deep pressure full body and look out for problem areas in the areas I noted above. It was like I was wasting his time although I paid to be here and I still tipped too by the way. He leaves the room and I get on the table after disrobing. He starts the massage and did great on my back. No comments from my part but once he moved on to flipping me to supine from prone, he states so if you really want deep tissue, come back with your problem areas. He also said that up until this point he was only giving me light to medium pressure. The back felt great but I never had to scream uncle but it definitely was not light pressure. I have had hundreds of massages in the states and outside the country. Top of the line spas like 10000 waves. Btw he has nothing on 10000 waves and many others I have had. He is very cocky and I did not state that but instead fed into his ego on accident and said well I did hear you are the best. Then he said the front desk promotes him to everyone but he is not for everyone. He went on to say that he only likes working on people that are sports injuries or having trouble spots that he can work deep on. So basically while I complimented him his first response was “well I’m not for everyone”. Basically he was saying he was too good to continue future sessions with me. He works at massage envy and thinks he can tell a client that they don’t belong with him. Anyways, I’m going to use all my credits soon and cancel this company. It has went downhill since I joined in 2004. I have paid a lot of years to massage envy and know I was grandfathered in for a long time at low rate which was suppose to be for life but you also said that contract is void now and charge me more. It was ridiculously cheap but I’m not happy with the quality any longer if the therapist I have encountered whether it be manual skills or more recently social. I’m done and will finish credits asap!
