I am a first time customer to Massage Envy. My friends gave me a $120 gift card for my birthday and I went to book online. The website said it would cost $60 for a 60 min massage so I decided to split my gift card up and do two massages rather than one long one. On the day of my massage when I went to check out, the person at the desk informed me that the cost would be $70 (not $60) and if I wanted to book a second one, that one would cost $120. And unless I became a member for $70 a month, I would not be able to use my gift card to cover the majority of two massages. Nowhere on the website was any of this information displayed, nor was it explained to me when I called to confirm my appointment or when I checked in. When I asked the person at the front desk what I could get with the remaining $50 on my gift card they replied, "nothing." I'm really upset and disappointed, because now I have to waste the rest of my gift card or pay out of pocket $70 for what was supposed to be a gift. If I had known ahead of time, I would have just booked one longer massage. Further, the staff didn't seem to care about any of this. I left Massage Envy feeling upset and scammed instead of calm and relaxed. The lack of transparency around pricing is terrible.
