I scheduled a 9 a.m. massage. I really did not enjoy it as I have in times past, because the room was cold when I went in to disrobe. I brought this to the provider's attention (Ericka) and she brought in a space heater and the heat was activated on the massage table. It took a bit of the chill off the room, but still, I was tense. She had a difficult time getting me to relax, and let her "control" my limbs. It wasn't until about 75% of the way through the massage that I realized and she asked, "Why can't you relax, are you preoccupied with what you have to do today?" I told her no, that wasn't it, and that I believed I was still just too chilly to let myself "go." I was tensed without thinking about it because I was chilly still. I was told that the location (Salisbury MD) was having trouble with heating by two different employees. I would have NEVER scheduled a morning appointment had I known this. Also, I feel like if this was a known issue, that the proper measures to make the massage rooms comfortable should have been taken. The cashier (Nicole) was very empathetic and apologetic, and even discounted my bill. However, I still left very disappointed with the fact that I did not get the experience I'd hoped for. My self-care day started of poorly because of this and left me regretful that I even went. Additionally, although Ericka was not unfriendly, she was not personable. She was clearly there to "get the job done," but added no element relaxation in tone or manner. I complained that she started my service at about 9:15 and ended by 10:00 was already out of the room, telling me to get dressed. I arrived at 8:50 a.m. should have received services for every minute that I paid for. I later understood that the 60 minute session really includes 50 minutes of massage, but she even cut me short of that. I later found out the her impersonal manner and hurry was because she was anxious to get to the next client, as she was "behind schedule." Again, it was about a five minute difference, but was still my time too have. From now on, I will request Hannah, as she had previously given me a great, personalized service and seems to represent the Massage Envy brand well.
